Finding Your Way in the World of Skincare

As long as I can remember, my mother has had a strict nightly skin care regiment that she would repeat in the morning as soon as she woke up. Different creams were layered on top of others and covered every inch of her face. As a child, I attributed the routine to being a "mom thing," something I would never understand, but now seeing her youthful face so well preserved in her early sixties, I find myself begging for advice!

In the world of skin care, there are so many choices; it's hard to know where to begin. An experiment testing serums took a toll for the worst and I found the anti-aging products to be irritating and harsh. Other creams proved much too greasy, causing breakouts and acne. I had almost completely given up until I discovered Kiehl's. I began using their Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado and almost instantly fell in love. The formula is easy to apply and stays in place, so there's no need to worry about the product traveling into your eye. At a decent price, there is a generous amount of cream that could last as long as 6 months. The skin around my eyes feel moisturized and soft and I look forward to applying this product both day and night.

The next step in my endeavor was to find a decent moisturizer that could hydrate my face without causing breakouts. Having had enormous luck with my Kiehl's eye cream, I looked to them once more for a decent moisturizer. I stumbled upon Kiehl's Blue Herbal Moisturizer, a light oil-free product that mattifies skin, addresses acne and offers a cooling sensation. My skin feels fresh and my complexion is clearer than ever.

The key to finding the perfect creams for your skin begins with a little research. Take a look at a company website and read the product description wherein you will, most likely, find a detailed account of what cream is appropriate for whom. Kiehl's offers a brochure with each product corresponding to a certain age group. If you are still at odds with your decision, ask a salesperson who works specifically with a certain line of skincare product. Their main objective is to make a sale but they can also be extremely knowledgeable about the product they're selling.

Lastly, ask for samples. There's always a little apprehension that goes along with requesting freebies, but everyone's skin is different and skincare products can be a costly investment. Samples can save you from making a horrible mistake.

Eventually, your skin will require different methods of treatment. You won't be able to use the same skin care regiment you used in your twenties when your fifty, but you need to start somewhere. Age is a factor in what product you use, but so is environment and overall skin sensitivity, so take your time and find what works best for you. Once you discover a routine you like, you'll never regret the hard work that you put into preserving the health of your skin.

Top All-In-One Skincare Products

AppId is over the quota

Everyone has their own small collection of products that they use religiously. These items are usually scattered over our bathroom counters or crammed into drawers. Though we may not have the room for them, we still make fervent efforts to assure they are always there. As inconvenient as it is, I am a slave to my skincare routine and will do everything in my power to avoid any sort of compromising. However I have recently been introduced to a couple all-in-one skincare items that might just be the answer to my (and possibly your) prayers. I have always been a little bit skeptical about claims made by all-in-one products thinking, "Can it really do all that?" Though I still remain a little unconvinced with most multi-tasking products, I have found three that really live up to their name!

BB Creams
If you've walked past a Sephora or opened up a magazine lately, I'm sure you've heard or read about BB creams. These creams are very popular right now, with even drug store brands coming out with their own versions. It is, for the most part, a skincare product however; it can also be used as makeup as well. "Beauty Balm" or "Blemish Balm" is a liquid formula with the appearance of tinted moisturizer. Just like a tinted moisturizer, it provides a light to medium coverage for the entire face while also acting as a primer, powder and SPF. BB creams also help to improve the texture of your skin and contribute to a more even skin tone. By combining the forces of five products into one, you can conserve counter space and save tons of money.

Purity Made Simple
Simple is in the title, though it really is anything but. I have been using this cleanser for years. It's pretty much my favorite skincare item of all time and it has never failed to amaze me. In addition to acting as a gentle cleanser, it also serves as a toner and a very effective makeup remover. When I say it removes "makeup," I mean everything from foundation to eye makeup and even waterproof mascara. I even rub it into my lash line, with my eyes closed of course, to make sure I remove everything and it never stings my eyes. My skin can be very sensitive at times and this formula being both mild and effective is really a godsend.

Elizabeth Arden 8-Hour Cream
This skin protectant has been around for 80+ years and is probably just as popular today as it was back then. The cream feels a lot like petroleum jelly, but it also contains salicylic acid and Vitamin E making it great for chapped skin. This cream is so effective at treating skin ailments, it was even rumored to have been used on soldiers suffering from burns during world war two. It comes in a big tube and all you need is a dab to treat chapped lips, suns burns and dry cuticles. The cream can also be used to keep eyebrows in place and used as an overall sheen for the body.

The Dark Side Of Beauty - 4 Night Skincare Tips For A Younger Look

AppId is over the quota

Women make non stop crazy efforts to keep their skin healthy and radiant. Skincare begins with just washing your face with clear water to applying nourishing masks to buying expensive cosmetics and sometimes going to beauty care centers and even go as further as surgery or injections. But there is a dark side of the skincare routine - the one we can't see because it takes place in the night when we are sleeping.

Skin cells revitalising is at its highest peak between 11 pm and 4 am. This is the time when all the nourishing ingredients and vitamins are completely absorbed in the skin. But this is only true if we are sleeping. Staring at the computer or watching TV in the wee hours won't do any good even if we apply the strongest and most efficient anti aging product. The reason for this is a hormone called cortisol - it is a result of being awake through the night. Cortisol is known to ruin skin cells. We want the opposite effect - for regenerating the epidermis we need the growth hormone, but it is produced only during a 7-8 hour long sleep of full value.

Here is how we can take the maximum positive effect out of the dark side of life.

Night shower

Stay under the shower or in a hot bathtub for 20 minutes every evening. This will deep clean your skin and will help the pores open. After that your skin will be ready for a rich nourishing night cream. You can apply more generously than the day cream.

Night care

The effect of the night cream is much stronger because it doesn't have to compete against sun rays, dirt and decorative cosmetics. Take the retinoids for example. Advanced anti wrinkle creams have retinoids in them but under the sun they can lead to pigmentation. So you can't use them during day time. Cosmetics that have Vitamin A and Vitamin E in them are most efficient if applied a couple of hours before going to bed.

Natural moisturizing

Dermatologists often advice us to use hydrating cream for the day and nourishing cream for the night. But there are other ways to keep our skin hydrated. A good decision is to put an air humidifier in the bedroom. But don't forget to clean it regularly especially if you suffer from some kind of allergy.

Pillows

Our sleeping position is very important when it comes to skin rejuvenation. Sleeping on your back or on your right side is believed to be the best for maximum rest and beauty results. If you love to sleep on your belly with a face buried in your pillow don't be surprised in the morning when you see your puffy eyes.

Don't forget to change your pillow case regularly, ideally once every 3-4 days because your skin has direct contact with it for at least 6-7 hours every night.

I love doing little things to keep my body and face beautiful and young looking. To read more tips and information about skincare products please go to my blog - http://idrotherapyreview.blogspot.com/
