Glamour modelling generally means topless or even nude modelling for men's magazines and occasional national newspapers.
Page Three modelling doesn't have the best reputation as high art, but there's no reason glamour modelling always has to be tacky or derogatory. There are many opportunities for classy shoots which are partially revealing, and even the most high earning, well respected actresses and singers sometimes get their kit off for a magazine editorial!
However, if you're considering trying to break into glamour modelling, you must be even more vigilant and on the look out for dodgy characters and dangerous situations. The modelling industry in general is a popular target for scam artists and criminals, preying on the dreams of young girls and boys - and glamour modelling is even more attractive to men who want to take advantage of unsavvy teenagers.
So if you want to be a glamour model, the first thing to do is wise-up and make sure you're always alert and assessing any offers you get to ensure they are genuine. You should avoid going to castings and jobs alone, and if something smells bad, don't wait until it's too late.
Okay - warnings out of the way. What's the next most important thing for an aspiring glamour model to keep in mind? The question to ask yourself is - do you really have the right kind of personality to do topless or nude modelling.
It might sound like an attractive idea, an easy way to make a quick buck, from the comfort and privacy of your own home, but to do this kind of work you need to have a very strong personality, a thick skin and be willing to do things that would make most people very uncomfortable - i.e. stripping off in front of complete strangers.
Think hard about whether you really have the cahoonas for it.
The next thing to consider is whether you've thought about the long term consequences of having potentially sensitive pictures in the public domain for the rest of your life (and longer!). If, later in life, you decide you want a change of career, how is that going to be affected by the fact that if you potential new boss Googles your name after an interview, they are faced with hundreds of pictures of you in compromising positions?
Once the pictures are sold, you have no rights or control over where they're used, and they could be reprinted over and over again.
So, in summary, if you're considering getting into glamour modelling think hard about:
if you're streetwise enough to not get into sticky situationsif you're bold enough to pose naked in front of strangersif you're not going to regret having everything exposed in later yearsIf you're sure you've got all that covered, then you might well be suited to glamour modelling.
