Give Yourself a Manicure in a Fast Five Minutes

What's the point of perfect hair, teeth, and skin if your nails aren't flawless as well? Nothing completes a look more perfectly than when your nails are smooth and trimmed. Some women decorate with decals and shatter polish, while others opt for nudes and light pinks. Some even declare the all the natural look their style. Whatever your poison may be, read the following tips for a manicure that is quick and flawless.

First, gather all your necessary manicure supplies. This helps to avoid the scatter-brained running back and forth that wastes so much of our precious time. And manicures are meant to be somewhat relaxing! Skip the mess altogether and keep all your supplies in a basket for easy access. You'll need a file, some cotton balls, polish remover, a polish of your choice, cuticle/nail cream, cuticle stick, clippers, base coat, top coat, bowl of warm water, towel, small paint brush, and some hand cream. This sounds like a lot, but you probably have all of these supplies in a cupboard together already!

Use your clipper to get your desired nail length. Then, use your file to smooth and neaten the edges. File from up and toward the center of your nail to prevent undesirable chipping. With a fine grain file, give each nail a quick buff to smooth out any unsightly ridges. Crystal nail files are great for this purpose as they are praised for being durable and have highly effective grains.

Next, work your cuticles. Pop your hands into the bowl of warm water to soften your cuticles for at least 20 seconds. The water should be warm, but not scalding hot. Dry your hands with the towel and apply the cuticle/nail cream to each finger. Push back each cuticle with a cuticle stick or if lacking one, your finger nail. Remember to be kind to your cuticles. Cuticles are meant to keep harmful bacteria at bay, so cut only when necessary.

After wiping off excess cream from your nails, apply your polish. First, the base coat. When looking for a base coat, look for one that doubles as a top coat to save yourself money! The purpose of the base coat is to ensure that your chosen polish will apply smoothly. Now, go ahead and apply the base coat. Next, the color of your choice. The easiest colors to paint are the lighter colors like pale pinks and nudes. These shades mask uneven application and are great for a girl that doesn't have the time to apply two to three coats. OPI has a great selection of polishes that are chip resistant and difficult to remove. Finally, apply the top coat. The top coat will help to seal the manicure and help your color last longer. This is essential for those of us who type quite frequently.

Clean up. Many times, our left hand is polished perfectly, while our right could use a little touch up. Never fear! Use your polish remover, small paintbrush, and some napkins to rid yourself of nasty slip ups. If you feel comfortable, purchase a bottle of 100% acetone. Acetone is known to dry out your skin and there are many conflicting claims regarding the amount absorbed by skin. Many recommend to use straight acetone only as a means of clean up. Use your regular polish remover to eliminate previous nail color. Also, acetone will eat through the finish on your table, laptop, cell phone - so be careful! It is also highly flammable so do not burn a candle nearby due to fumes possibly igniting. Do not pour down your drain or toilet as it may burn through plastic pipes. To get rid of acetone, simply soak up with an old rag and let it evaporate outside. Soak your paintbrush in the acetone and gently remove any polish that was accidentally applied to cuticles. Be sure to wipe the brush on a napkin as it picks up polish to avoid smudging.

Now, go ahead and admire your handiwork and show off your nails with pride!... And to think it only took five minutes of your time!

Surrounding Yourself With Fall Scents for Halloween

No matter what the thermometer tells you, a glance at the calendar is enough to make you yearn for crisp fall scents. This is the perfect time to shop for home fragrances, perfumes, and scented bath and body products that make you feel as though autumn is in the air even when the weather's warm. Take a look at the environmental fragrance aisle at your local box store or boutique, and you'll see that they've already ditched the summer florals in favor of fall's luscious harvest scents and Halloween goodies.

Everyone experiences fall fragrances differently, so what are some of the things that fool your nose into thinking it's autumn? Maybe it's the aroma of maple syrup or the faint scent of smoke as fireplaces start for the season. You might associate fall's scent with the cool, crisp ozone smell of a north wind that has a bit of a bite to it. Atmospheric scents tinged with pine, oakmoss and wood-like notes evoke a forest blazing with autumnal hues. If you love being in the great outdoors for fall, these scents might be your favorite choices for perfumes and home fragrances.

If you're lucky enough to have a garden or fruit trees, you might think of ripe apples, plums, persimmons and cranberries. Warm, spicy scents and all of those delicious aromas that perfume designers call gourmand notes are classic choices for fall. Everything from cupcakes served at the summer's last Labor Day hurrah to Halloween's candy corn and the pumpkin pie that makes Thanksgiving special can be a part of fall fragrance for your home or your bath. If you think of fall in terms of all the good things you'll get to taste, then surround yourself with aromatic versions of fall's festive treats like kettle corn and caramel apples.

Fashionistas might gravitate to fall scents that feel more textural. Cashmere, silk and velvet all have a rich feel between your fingers, but some scents also have a richness that echoes that plush sensation. Putting on that cashmere sweater that's been in your cedar closet for months is one of autumn's most enjoyable scent memories. Natural fibers like wool and silk also have a characteristic scent of their own that often reads as fall-like. If you store your clothes with drawer paper scented of violets or roses, those scents might mean autumn to you. Look for scents that describe themselves as creamy or velvety to enjoy that sensation of richness in your fragrance choices.

Just because it's fall doesn't mean that you have to put away all the floral fragrances you love. Figs, currants, apples and pears have an almost floral fragrance already, so they pair beautifully with floral notes like rose and lilac. Look for flowers combined with fruit or spice notes to transform a summer scent into something more seasonal.

How To Protect Yourself After Getting Eyelid Cosmetic Surgery

When your are getting cosmetic surgery, look for the information on whether your chosen facility offers a lifetime guarantee and the options available to you, should you need to get rid of it or alter it to correct new problems. A case in point was on women who got the Trilucent implant and are in the process of replacing them with silicone, if they have not done so already. The reason for the exchange came after there was a public scare on the safety of the former implant material in human bodies. For eyelid surgery patients, here is what you must attend to, as you recover.

You must keep medical records safe

Medical records come in handy when dealing with challenges arising in future, and information that is more important if new becomes publicly available, about your situation, such as the health safety scare of Trilucent implants. Records are mandatory for filing insurance claims to validate that your insurer is liable for compensating you for damages causes as stated in your policy.

During recovery on your first and subsequent surgeries, you need to keep a routine of medication, follow-up visits and recovery diagnosis; without records, it is impossible to do this. It is possible to find out the type of materials used on you and the status any other information related to the surgery that you got; however, the response time for inquiries made to different hospital facilities varies.

Avoid risky situations after surgery

Risks exists for different materials used in cosmetic surgery, and in case of a physical accident that affects your eyes, get back to the hospital to have your doctor perform tests. Other than accidents, how you conduct yourself during the post-blepharoplasty period also may cause an intermittent visit back to the hospital, given that your body will at first try to fight off new material or medication introduced to it.

When you combine this with a lack of will to adapt to the new look at the altered functionality, the result is a complete rejection. Ask your surgeon about the best way to treat your eyes after eyelid operation. You may receive advice such as to keep off sun incisions, keep off reading, sleep with your headed elevated, and avoid unnecessary physical contact with other people.

Relax and increase nutrient intake

To enhance a positive bodily response to healing, keep your mind relaxed and expectant of recovery. Provide adequate nourishment to the body by using healing multivitamins, and getting the right food. You body will need to develop many cells and thus requires a good intake of proteins and to aid in their absorption, you will need enough fluids and roughage in your diet.

Consider a diet of leafy vegetables such as lettuce and get your proteins from eggs and yogurt, then use fruit juices, especially pineapple juice that reduces swelling as it has bromelain.
