Hot fusion is where a single strand of pre bonded hair is pressed one inch away from the natural roots using keratin protein bonding glue and fusing it with heating pliers. Cold fusion is applied in a similar way but is considered the safer option between the two as the later uses ultrasonic waves instead of heat to bond the hair. This method of extension last the longest compared to the others as it grows along with the natural hair.
Clip in extensions are the easiest and instant solution to anyone wanting longer hair, more volume or flexibility in creating a style. They come in sets of 6 to 8 pieces depending on what you require. They are not permanent and can be put on or removed anytime. Clip in's saves you salon charges and proves to be the cheapest option whilst giving you the same results as the other extensions.
Micro ring extensions are similar to pre bonded extensions. However, they are applied to the natural hair using a hook and a small micro ring for each strand. The hairs are pulled through the rings using the hook and then pressed down and clamped on all the sides with a set of pliers. Extra care is usually required with this type of extension as the rings tend to loosen after a certain period of time which results in the hair falling out.
Weft extensions can be sewn, taped or braided into the natural hair. First, a small line of the natural hair is plaited across the middle of the head and then the weft is sewn, taped or braided into it. The taped weft extension is the most unpopular among the three as it damages the natural hair to a great extent.
The method of application for any type of extension has to be done by a professional otherwise it will prove to be disastrous if done incorrectly except for clip in's as they are easy to use if you follow the guidelines properly.
